Meet the Fam

#FitBoxFam in a Nutshell

We’re the Marshalls. A family of four Tae Kwon Do Black Belts with a dream: to build a true family-feel boxing studio. Welcome to Fitbox.


We build strength here together, both physically and mentally. Our workouts have been proven to challenge you and raise up up. From boxing to weight lifting, our classes are specifically designed to build endurance and sculpt lean strong bodies... in a fun and interactive environment.

We motivate each other in our Fitbox Boxing classes to dig deeper and punch quicker. We support each other in our FitLift 5x5 classes to push harder and go heavier. Even our mini me’s get it on the fun in our FitKids Boxing classes.

We box, lift, and power through... together. 

Fitbox is more than just a workout, it's a mind set, a lifestyle, a community. 

Joseph Marshall

Trainer, Boxing & 5x5
Fitbox Owner

Joseph was born and raised in Sherman Oaks, CA. When he was 8, he became Billy Blanks' first junior black belt, powering on to eventually receive his 3rd degree. He competed with the Billy Blanks World Training Center, often medaling in his division. Joseph is known for being able to call out combos at lightening speed, a skill he picked up while participating in the debate team. Growing up in the fitness industry, Joseph has always dreamed of owning his own studio that is deep rooted in his Tae Kwon Do background. Fitbox is a culmination of his years of hard work and dedication, a childhood dream come true. A valley kid at heart, Joseph lives locally in Sherman Oaks with his German Sheppard, Rex, and tries to take advantage of every hike California has to offer. 

Roger Marshall

Instructor, Boxing & 5x5
Fitbox Trainer Development

Roger was born in England and moved to the States when he was 8 (we wish he had an accent too)! From playing on his HS Football team to competing in triathalons, he has always had a love of fitness. Roger became involved in Tae Kwon Do as a deal with his son; the day Joseph received his black belt, Roger would start taking classes. That day quickly approached and a few years later, the two were standing next to each other in the line up as Roger received his black belt, eventually advancing to a 3rd degree. Most recently, he successfully rode his bike from San Francisco to Malibu... for fun. Recently competing in a 5k mud run, he took 2nd in his age group and looks forward to coming in first at the next one. Roger developed the FitLift 5x5 class and is living proof that it transforms your body!


Sue Marshall

Instructor, Boxing & 5x5

Sue was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley. She flew up the ranks in Tae Kwon Do earning herself a fourth degree black belt, one of Billy Blanks' highest ranking students. Sue helped run the Tae Kwon Do program for over 10 years, leading the children's program and sitting on the board for dozens of advancement tests. Sue was one of the original Tae Bo members and can be seen in many of the original at home videos. Her passion for Martial Arts and incredibly compassionate heart eventually led her to fully dive into the fitness industry, focusing on boxing, weight lifting, and private training full time. When she’s not in the gym, you can find her playing Words With Friends or poolside with a Bloody Mary in hand. 


Michelle Marshall

Instructor, Boxing & 5x5 
Nutrition Planning, Marketing

Michelle was the last Marshall to receive her black belt (she decided to take a hiatus from Tae Kwon Do to try out a few more traditional sports). Learning early on to finish what she started, she eventually decided to return to TKD as a teen. While testing for her red/black belt, the board decided to skip her and advance her directly to black. She eventually earned her 2nd degree. Her love for health and fitness continued to grow through out college where she enjoyed developing workout programs for her close friends. As a typical millennial, her digital and social media savviness has enabled her to spearhead the FitBox branding, so don’t be alarmed if you see her sneaking in the corner of classes taking pics! When she's not working it out in the gym, you can find her whipping up batches of her favorite protein pancakes and sipping on homemade vanilla lattes.  


Jeremy Chu

Instructor, Boxing

Jeremy was born and raised in NYC (Go Giants!) where he played various sports growing up and lived an active lifestyle with a focus in dance and boxing. He trained out of Trinity Boxing where he was surrounded by many pro fighters. One fighter, being former WBO Middleweight Champion, Peter "Kid Chocolate" Quillin who took him under his wing and together worked closely during Peter's training camps. Jeremy moved to LA in 2010 and since has been certified in personal training and massage therapy, bridging the gap between fitness and wellness. When Jeremy isn’t working with clients, he enjoys playing football and eating copious amounts of food.

Michele Lax

Instructor, Boxing & 5x5

Michele Lax, also known as “Mouse”, started in the Martial Arts when she was 8 years old. She earned her black belt in Tang Soo Do at 13 and later received black belts in Shorin Ryu, Tae Kwon Do and Wushu. By the time she was 18, she was traveling the world competing in Sport Karate. Known for her creativity, flair and straight up kicks in her musical katas, she was the 1st woman in the United States to compete with the Kama on a rope.  She won over 500 1st place trophies and 8 World Titles by the time she retired at age 23. After she graduated college, she started teaching Cardio Kick classes and personal training. She is a mom of 3, who encourages health and fitness in her home. You will often see her kids hanging out in the gym and helping out in class. She has been an athlete all of her life, so pushing you to your limits comes natural to her. 

Jordana Gruzen

Instructor, Boxing & 5x5

Jordana is a southern California native who has played sports and been involved with fitness her entire life. After working for the reputable fitness company, NASM, Jordana wanted to pursue making a direct and positive impact on people’s lives through personal fitness training. Health and happiness go hand in hand, and Jordana believes that with her knowledge and experience she can guide her clients to achieve their ultimate fitness goals.

With her advanced certification in sports performance training, corrective exercise (post rehabilitation work), and personal training through the National Academy of Sports Medicine, Jordana works hard to asses each individual to develop a personalized fitness program that factors in ones physical abilities as well as their overall fitness goals.

Angela Machuca

Instructor, Boxing & 5x5

Angela is a former Emmy Award winning television producer turned Fitness Leader, Coach and mother of 2.  

She is an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer, ACE Certified Group Fitness Instructor and Youth Fitness and Mindy Body Specialist. 


Angela has successfully completed a number of sprint and olympic distance triathlons, half marathons, 5Ks and obstacle course races.  She grew up boxing with her Dad and has a strong passion for martial arts.


Her classes are intense and fun; and will leave you feeling accomplished and inspired.  Angela is at her best when she is motivating you to be at yours.
